Although he is a relative newcomer to wine production itself, Stephen’s professional involvement with the pleasures of the table spans nearly thirty years. During that thirty year span, Stephen has been a retailer of fine wines (Singer & Foy), a wine consultant for a wide array of restaurants, an importer of fine oils and vinegars (Stephen Singer Olio), and a restaurateur.
He is the wine director of the Lalime’s group of restaurants in Berkeley, and a founding partner of the César tapas restaurants in Berkeley and Oakland.
Stephen has recently opened a new restaurant in Sebastopol called Pizzavino 707. This wood fired pizzeria will also have a retail and wine
tasting collective featuring a select number of small, artisanal local winegrowers. Baker Lane will be an anchor member of this group.
